Silloth-on-Solway
Founded in 1892 by the North British Railway Company, Silloth Golf club is a regular venue for national women's events. The course has narrow, undulating fairways and pocket size greens so hitting straight is more important than long, and bearing in the mind the fierce winds, accuracy is vital to score well.
Silloth-on-Solway was the home of pioneering lady golfer Cecilia 'Cecil' Leitch who won the Ladies Championship no less than four times, and finally retired in 1927.

The views from the course are superb, with the Galloway hills to the north and the Lakeland fells and Isle of Man to the south, and is a regular qualifying course for the Open.
